Hey!
I’m Ellie, a UX/UI Designer based in the San Fransicso Bay Area - by way of Seattle, Minneapolis, and good 'ole Fargo, North Dakota - and in the process of moving to Denver, CO in fall 2023.
I help companies create successful products by asking the right questions and advocating for the user’s experience, while keeping business needs and limitations front of mind.
Why UX ?
Early in my career with an early-stage startup, I supported the launch of 3 mobile apps and the evolution of their respective brands. This is when I first worked, and fell in love, with user experience design. As a scrappy UX producer/designer, I worked closely with our UI designers and front-end developers. I learned how to sketch wireframes, optimize information architecture, create content, build brands, and strategically prioritize features and fixes. Most importantly, I learned that the user’s experience makes or breaks your product. It is fundamental in the product development process.
Following this experience, I grew professionally at Amazon, managing beta testing, leading customer interviews, and working on an initiative I'm most proud of: the launch of a virtual content library for AWS Startups.
And now, back at an early stage startup, I'm loving owning experiences end-to-end for our users. In a niche SaaS space, we're solving real-life, daily pains for our customers. My work feels impactful, and for most of us, that feels pretty dang good.
A little more . . .
Outside of work, I’m hopefully outside. This time is evenly split between long family walks/hikes (good for all of us but mostly the golden retriever, Frankie), and a book with good coffee. I love to cook, and often not from a recipe. It *usually* turns out.
